Wireframe
May 8 – June 5, 2010, reception: Friday, May 7, 8:00 p.m
Wireframe is an installation that uses photo-luminescent tape to trace the unique architectural space of A1C. Inspired by early ’80s science-fiction film sets, video games, and AutoCAD, Wireframe creates tension between real and virtual space, converting the gallery into an immersive three-dimensional drawing of itself. Through this ‘drawing’ process, the individuality of the space is revealed, indexing its production and history as well as positioning the building as a collaborator in the work. This empathetic shift re-mixes the context of the space and the activities happening inside it. As a result Wireframe proposes an inter-subjective relationship; we program the gallery while the gallery simultaneously programs us.
